Reduce, Reuse and Recycle - OC's Eco-Friendly Ethos

Here at OC we are very aware of the negative impact waste can have on our Environment, small steps and conscious choices are crucial to moving in the right direction. As a business we want to buy as many recycled products and packaging as we can to make that small step in doing our bit.

Our tote bags are a great alternative to plastic bags, it takes years for plastic to break down and affects all organisms in the food chain. With an estimated 270,000 tons of plastic floating in our seas, the affect it is having on our oceans is disturbing. Offering stylish totes that are sustainable and can be reused, prevents plastic waste and will ensure to reuse more.

We use the phrase sustainability frequently, but what does it actually mean? Its literal meaning is the avoidance of the depletion of natural resources in order to maintain an ecological balance. The ultimate goal is the have an equilibrium where available resources must not be depleted faster than resources are naturally generated. Our strive should be to reduce the negative impact humans have on the Environment.

We are conscious that these small changes won't change the World over night but if everyone made small changes, businesses and consumers, then the sustainable and eco-friendly options for retail would expand and grow.

Make informed choices whilst purchasing, how long will this item last? What is this item made from?

What are our choices at OC? Our mailer bags are either compostable or made from recycled items, our paper usage is minimal as everything is digital, we reuse any cardboard boxes we receive from deliveries, we select our products from Brands who have the same ethos as us and are conscious with their products being made from recycled items. We have joined Noissue's Eco Packaging Alliance which certifies our packaging as eco-friendly. And for every order we place with noissue a tree will be planted. There is still more we can do and we are researching more alternatives to our practices, so watch this space.
